On Sunday 13th December we will be bopping through the years as we cover 8 Decades of Dance. Join us for the entire event and fundraise for a great cause, or come along for a shorter time and make a donation. Sign up here.
Our first dance marathon was held to raise funds for our relocation. Competitions included best air guitar and best robot, and we raised over £7000 in total – helping us complete our move to Haggerston the very same year!
This time around we added in routine learning, in addition to a performance from the Funk Soul Brothers (one of our volunteers’ bands) – playing classic soul and rock covers. Our patron Jo Brand even made an appearance and cheered everyone on with a lively set!
Showcasing 8 styles of dance, including Bollywood and Ceilidh, 2011 was a very Rich Mix of dancing styles (sorry!). We were also joined by Ben Townsend, who later went on to dance the entire length of the UK!!
2012 saw us at the historic York Hall, where we were thrilled to be joined by Marc Almond as our guest of honour, judging contests and handing out prizes throughout the night.
For our last dance marathon at St. Johns in Hackney our compere was funnyman Mark Dolan, who kept spirits high as we danced our way through 8 decades. Fundraising efforts this year took the total raised from our Dance Marathons to an incredible £50,000!
