Private Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Our Occupational Therapists assess barriers to participation in everyday life, whether these are cognitive, physical or behavioural changes, and work towards goals that are set jointly with the individual within the environments that are important to them.
From teeth-brushing to grocery shopping. From building a weekly routine to studying. From succeeding in work to maintaining a healthy social life.
Neuro Physiotherapy
Following a brain injury people can have issues with mobility, muscle stiffness or spasticity, weakness, loss of balance or dizziness.
Our Neuro Physiotherapists support people to manage these symptoms and maintain their activity levels which often reduce after their injury.
Following a comprehensive holistic assessment, an individualised treatment plan will be designed to work towards personalised goals, maximise independence and promote overall wellbeing.
Sessions can take place in our therapy gym in Hackney, at home or other community settings such as the local gym or swimming pool. Our therapists can also integrate other approaches to rehabilitation including adapted yoga, neuropilates, dance or craniosacral therapy.
Speech & Language Therapy
Individual intervention is bespoke and aligns with a person’s goals. It includes language work focusing on words, sentences, and narrative interventions to support people to express themselves more effectively.
For people with Cognitive Communication Disorder, the focus may be on insight and awareness, understanding communication challenges and practising strategies to improve conversations.
Some people choose to work on texting or emails, reading or telephone use.Joint work with family, friends and support workers can promote carryover and generalisation. Vocational options can also be explored which includes working with employers to support the communication demands of the workplace.
Psychotherapy
Brain injury can have a big impact on a person’s identity, role, behaviour, personality and relationships. Our specialist psychotherapists help survivors – and those around them – understand and manage these changes.
Our Psychotherapists provides a confidential and emotionally-supportive space for people to express themselves openly about their experience, to explore strategies to help manage emotional reactions, such as anger, anxiety, trauma-responses, low mood and loss of confidence.
Our therapists are experienced in working with themes of loss and grief, loss of identity, rebuilding of one’s life path and sense of self, and relationship changes. We adopt an integrative approach in order to support each unique client holistically.
Neuropsychology
Our Clinical Neuropsychologists work with individuals to understand the relationship between their brain, behaviour and psychological function. The neuropsychological assessment looks at how brain injury may affect behaviour, thinking, psychological functioning, and/or personality and how these difficulties may impact on the ability to complete everyday tasks.
The most common reasons for referral include difficulties with memory, attention, decision making, problem solving, changes in behaviour or personality and adjusting to life after brain injury.
We can offer comprehensive medico-legal assessments and reports as well as on-going neuropsychological intervention.
