Step 1
Get your hands on some dried marrowfat peas (we sent these out to our members but you should be able to get some from a greengrocer).
Soak the peas in a bowl with plenty of water for 12-24 hours.
Step 2
Select a container (we’re using the top of an egg box here but you could use an empty mushroom or fruit tub).
Fill the container with compost but save a little back for later steps – we sent out compost to members but you can either make your own or get some delivered.
Step 3
Sow the seeds (place them) on top of the compost. You can leave a gap of one or two peas in between each.
Then cover the seeds with a layer of compost – about the thickness of a pea.
Step 4
Water well!
Keep watering every day or two – check how wet the compost is first.
Step 5
Harvest!
In two to three weeks your crop will have grown 3 – 4 inches tall. YOUR PEA SHOOTS ARE NOW READY TO EAT! Harvest by pinching off each shoot just above the bottom leaves. If you keep watering them, you can do this a few times with the same batch of peas.
