Our acclaimed Headway EATS supper club returns on Thursday 13 November from 6.30-9.30pm.

This time, you’ll be treated to an exclusive fashion show, featuring an array of hand-stitched creations inspired by Japanese kimonos. 👘✨

Why kimonos?

This year long-standing volunteer and textiles artist, Claudine Roux, has been leading an incredible kimono-making project at Headway East London.

“I’ve always wanted to make something members could wear, take home and be proud of. I’m mad about Japanese art, colour, and especially kimonos”, she says.

“I spoke to volunteer Sarah, her son is a designer who trained with Alexander McQueen! He cut a pattern that I practiced at home, and then we started to make them with members.”

“It started with just one member, Dee, enjoying it, then it spiralled. As soon as they saw the material, they couldn’t wait to get involved!”

A group of members have been crafting their own kimono creations – Mathieu, Simon, Sean, Tony H, Dee, Sewin, Saroj, Margie, Lina, Kim, Pam, Makda, Lai Kwan and more!

Some members have even been taking their work home with them:

“Pam bought herself a sewing machine, and is altering her own clothes now!”

We can’t wait to share their kimono creations with you all in a one-of-a-kind Headway Runway.

Headway EATS is a relaxed dining experience taking place at our canal-side home in Haggerston and led by a group of brain injury survivors who are (re)discovering talents and skills.

The menu is developed and prepared by the team over a number of weeks, using fresh ingredients.

At our supper club you will enjoy:
