A New Me, a conference co-produced, chaired and delivered by people with lived experience, is a day dedicated to exploring the ever-changing, lifelong nature of brain injury. Brain injury is not always an easy ride – but we want to celebrate the journey people go on to find a new version of themselves.

Speakers

Professor Andrew Bateman – Professor in Rehabilitation, University of Essex 

Professor Bateman will give his insights into the research gaps, technology and social care needed to support the journey to discovering a ‘New Me’ post-brain injury. 

Professor Stan Gilmour – Neurocriminologist, Founder and CEO Oxon Advisory 

Professor Gilmour joins us to raise awareness of the prevalence of brain injury as a result of intimate partner violence, and will share the First Responder Toolkit he developed. 

Christopher McKevitt – Professor of Health and Social Sciences, University of London 

Communication disability is part of the lifelong nature of brain injury. It may get better, or it may not. Professor McKEvitt’s talk poses the question: “What can we learn from this?” 

Dr Penny Trayner – Clinical Neuropsychologist, Academic Director at University of Liverpool & BPM Rehab 

Dr Penny Trayner will give her insights on the life-long impact of brain injury, and celebrate the power of music to support recovery by doing a live DJ-set to close the event!
