Hosted by Headway East London & The Blizard Institute
Join us for an afternoon of bold ideas, shared expertise, and fresh perspectives on brain injury research and recovery. This unique event brings together community members, clinicians, and researchers to explore how the dialogue between lived experience and neuroscience is reshaping the future of brain injury care.
Panel Discussion & Audience Q&A
Featuring contributors from both the Blizard Institute and Headway East London, this open conversation will explore:
- What is being researched — and who decides?
- How can we raise expectations for recovery?
- Who is missing from the conversation, and how do we include them?
From the Blizard Institute, Royal London Hospital & HEMS
Clinicians and researchers from the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, including colleagues from the Royal London Hospital and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), will share their state-of-the-art research into brain injury – with a particular focus on the acute stage of care.
You’ll hear from leading scientists and research group leaders working across every step of the brain injury pathway. They will highlight the areas of progress and the remaining challenges.
From Headway East London
Members and staff from Headway East London will present their community-led approach to research and care, with survivors placed at the centre as co-creators. Their contributions will highlight lived experience as essential knowledge — redefining who we consider to be the experts.
Headway will also share their vision for expanding services and shaping new, collaborative models for neurorehabilitation and support.
