(5th January)
In a challenging start to the year, the government have just announced a new nationwide ‘stay at home’ order to help curb growing Covid-19 infection rates across the country. Whenever such a change to guidance is announced, Headway East London must review its practices and act swiftly to best ensure the health and safety of our community.
After much discussion, we have decided that our day centre will remain closed for the time being and we will once more revert to a fully virtual service. This means that our weekly schedule of welfare calls and emails, physical and digital activity packs, and extensive Zoom groups will continue to be offered to members whilst they are at home. We will also be delivering some of our other community services virtually (Support work, Therapies and Casework including support groups), but will continue to support people at home if their needs cannot be met in this way. We will review this on a regular basis to ensure we can resume a physical service as soon as it is safe.
We understand this news will be difficult for so many, but whilst there’s distance between us we’re working hard to keep the community connected and supported. We’ve been blown away by the resilience and creativity of our members, staff and volunteers over the past year. In the most testing of times you’ve adapted your approach, completed new projects, and shown up for one another. We can do it again, until we’re together again.
Love from us lot x
