This year to mark Action for Brain Injury Week (16 - 22 May) we're celebrating the launch of our brand new strategy, sharing our members thoughts on the hidden aspects of brain injury, and showcasing some of our creative endeavours! Scroll down for a little preview of what's to come.....

MONDAY- Headway East London’s strategy 2022-2027 ⭐

Created using feedback from members, volunteers and staff, this document will serve as a blueprint for our work over the next 5 years as we look to reach more people, create new partnerships and develop our social justice voice. Join us on Zoom at 2pm to hear our CEO, Chair and a couple of our members talk through the main points, and read the whole document on our website later this afternoon.

TUESDAY – See the Hidden Me event 💬

Over the course of an afternoon, we’ll be inviting social care professionals into our day centre to learn more about the reality of living with brain injury. Attendees will listen to a panel discussion from our membership, before being invited to take part in a series of interactive workshop activities.

WEDNESDAY – Conversations with (Headway) friends 📹

As part of Headway UK’s theme “See The Hidden Me” we recorded a few of our members in conversation, talking about the less visible aspects of brain injury and the misunderstandings and challenges that come with it. Brain injury is often referred to as a hidden disability and it’s a topic close to our members’ hearts, as public awareness still remains low. Watch out for our videos on social media launching this week….

THURSDAY – Cafe OTO lunchtime takeover 🍲

We’re always looking for new connections and opportunities to share what we do, and this week we’ll be heading over to music venue and local institution Cafe OTO to host a lunchtime takeover. Join us from 12-2pm where some of our kitchen crew will be cooking up healthy grub for lucky customers

FRIDAY – Submit to Love t-shirt fundraiser 👕

After a little merch break, we’re back with a brand new batch of wild and wonderful t-shirts created by the artists of Submit to Love Studios. This time we’re paying homage to our favourite animals! All profits from this sale will go right back to the charity and studio’s work as we move into our next exciting phase…..

Please make sure to follow us on social media (FacebookInstagram and Twitter) to watch our plans unfold over the next week – share what you can and help raise awareness of brain injury #ABIWeek #SeeTheHiddenMe
