FIROZA, MEMBER SINCE 2008

What do you like most about your days at Headway?

“Coming to Headway has really encouraged me to think about my writing, because I’ve always wanted to have my experiences on paper but I used to procrastinate and struggle with finding the time… Headway’s encouraged me to finally do it and I’ve just finished a reflective piece”

PETE, VOLUNTEER SINCE 2013

How did you start out at Headway?

“It was five years ago and I’d just finished my baking training and I wanted to practice at social enterprises with baking as a therapeutic thing. I spoke to the volunteer co-ordinator at the time and said here’s what I want to do… I don’t really know how I’m going to do it but I’m going to figure it out as I go along! They let me make a lot of hockey pucks and burn a lot of bread!”

PAULINE, MEMBER FOR A LONG TIME

What’s the best part of your day at Headway?

“My best bit is when everyone is about and mingling. I always bring something in my bag, like biscuits to share with everyone. I love a little bit of dancing and a little bit of music!”

ZUBER, CO-ORDINATOR SINCE 2016

What’s the best bit of your day?

“When I come into work in the morning and have a cuppa and a chin wag with the members. And lunch time, when we’re all together there’s a real energy in the room, and then you get this silence when everyone’s loving their food!”

MARTIN, MEMBER FOR A LONG TIME

What’s special about Headway?

“The people without a doubt…..I’ve got no words. I can’t wait to get there and I don’t want to go home. It’s special here, it’s a second home”
