We were delighted to celebrate the official launch of a brand new service in the borough of Enfield this week. Working alongside NHS Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the Community Brain Injury Service will provide specialist therapy services for survivors of brain injury throughout 2017 in the local area.

Based at the Evergreen Primary Care Centre in Edmonton, a small team of neurological therapists will offer appointments two days a week to people recently discharged from hospital after their brain injury, in addition to long term survivors. The service opened to referrals in January 2017, carrying out initial assessments on individuals with the highest needs.

The launch adds to our growing therapy service, which currently delivers private therapies in addition to a comprehensive in-house programme offered to members (survivors of brain injury) at the charity’s day service based in Hackney.

Nora Brennan, Therapy Services Manager at Headway East London says:

“We’re thrilled to be launching the Community Brain Injury Service in Enfield this year, offering support to brain injury survivors living within the borough. As a charity currently operating in 13 boroughs across London, we have seen the number of people in need of support continue to grow each year. We’re confident that this new service will enable us to reach survivors who previously lacked access to this level of support.”

Dr Mo Abedi, Chair of Enfield CCG, adds:

“We are proud to be working alongside Headway East London in this new partnership in Enfield. One of our missions at Enfield CCG is to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for local people, and we are confident that the Community Brain Injury Service will provide this for brain injury survivors living in the Enfield borough.”
